Workshops

    “Thank you for a wonderful workshop this afternoon.  Your workshop title and content caught my attention.  Although I had spent all day Friday and Saturday at the Ontario Music Educator's Association (OMEA) conference in London,  I was willing to travel today to Toronto to take part in your workshop and what a reward it was for me!!!  All the way home,  I played your Reach for the Stars Cd - 4 times in fact - due to slow downs in traffic and an accident near Oakville.  I joyfully sang my way home, all 202 Km. and recalled the actions and movements to accompany the melody so they are still fresh and reinforced in my mind.  I'll use some tomorrow as I teach JK-Gr. 3 music part time.  You must be extremely proud of the quality of the performances. The back-up instruments are marvellous and a wonderful focus for students as well as they hear familiar and new sounds”.  Marilyn Loosemore Ontario

Kathy is available to do workshops and keynote addresses. This is her most popular workshop:

Tickles and Tunes - Repertoire and Resources for Early Childhood

A 3 hour teaching workshop with Kathy Reid-Naiman

Expand your repertoire of fingerplays, knee bounces, repetitive rhymes, songs and singing games. This participatory workshop will supply you with great tried and true material to inspire and energize your baby time, toddler and pre-school programs and music circles.

Literacy begins at birth, and an early start with rhymes, fingerplays and music is a key to opening up children's awareness of language. Teachers of new parents and babies need to keep replenishing their supply of new materials so that they will always be enthusiastic about their classes.

If a teacher is excited about the songs and games she is presenting, that enthusiasm will be passed on to the children in her class. All of the songs and rhymes and games presented are participatory and all participants are encouraged to try them together.

Handouts will be provided with words for all the material used, as well as an extensive list of resources.

Benefits of attending this workshop : for professionals

Now I’ll tell you a story and this story is new,
So listen very carefully, and do as I do.
This is Tom Thumb - and this is Tom Thumb’s house,

One morning very early when the sun began to shine;
Squeaky mouse sat up in bed and counted up to nine.
Then Squeaky made a jump and landed right on Tom Thumb’s bed;
She quickly ran up Tom Thumb’s arm and sat on Tom Thumb’s head.
Squeaky pulled his hair and Squeaky pulled his nose,
Until Tom Thumb jumped out of bed and put on all his clothes.
Then they sat down to breakfast
And ate a crust of bread,
And when that was all quite finished
Here’s what Tom Thumb said:
Now I’ll tell you a story and this story is new….
